The newest Schani Hotel will be the first in the German-speaking region to combine fully integrated building automation with an interface to the property management system. The goal: make sustainability measurable and take all possible opportunities to reduce CO2. The soft opening will be early next year.
Ever more guests, and especially younger ones, focus on sustainability aspects when choosing a hotel, according to recent findings from a representative study by the Austrian Hotelier Association. Schani Hotels have underscored their pioneering role in the hotel sector once again with Hotel Schani UNO City and have developed a fully integrated building automation system in cooperation with likeMagic, Gira and Häfele. The new hotel is situated directly opposite the Vienna International Centre – known locally as the UNO City.
The use of infrared motion detectors in the rooms is unique in the German-speaking region. Non-essential equipment is switched on or off when entering or leaving the room. The interface with the Property Management System delivers information to adjust the room temperature to the season before arrival. “The multi-utility controlling, linking, and, especially, evaluation of lighting, heating, and cooling helps us to measure sustainability properly for the first time. We can only take advantage of all possible opportunities to reduce CO2 with a good reporting system,” said Schani owner Benedikt Komarek.
The new Web App, which will be rolled out for our existing hotels at the beginning of July, enables a complete, individual guest journey. Guests at Hotel Schani UNO City will also be able to regulate room lighting and temperature, as well as administer their bookings and check invoices. “Our guests should feel at home. And our commitment to sustainability will reap even more rewards,” said Managing Director Markus Marth.
Furthermore, fair-manufactured raw materials, recycled materials, and lots of greenery in open spaces help create a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Komarek and Marth agree that “technology and design have to be thought of holistically to ensure sustainability.” The hotel will be finished in early 2024, while three other projects in Vienna and Hotel Schani München in Munich, Germany are under construction or being planned.
