Arrival, mobility and transport

Airport

You can reach the airport from Hotel Schani Salon in about 45 minutes. From the subway stop Neubaugasse directly in front of the hotel take the line U3 to Stephansplatz. Change to the line U1 and exit at Vienna’s central station: Hauptbahnhof (Südtiroler Platz). Alternatively the bus 13A, which has a stop at Neubaugasse, will also take you to the central station.

From Vienna central station, either the Inter City Europe (ICE) or Rail Jet (RJ) train will take you directly to the airport. The trains operate every 30 minutes between 6:30 am and 11:00 pm.

Bicycles

Rent a bike! In Vienna many different bike routes will get you where you need to go. You can rent a bike at more than 180 bikesharing stations, use it to discover the city and later on return it at one of the stations. The next bikesharing station is located at Amerlingstraße 6, just a 3 minute walk from the hotel. You will be charged every 30 minutes at the standard rate of 0,60 € per 30 minutes and a maximum of 14,90 € per 24 hours of rental. You can read more here.

Car park

Did you arrive in Vienna by car? Around the corner, about 150 meters from the hotel you can find the garage Gerngross. Here you can park at a rate of 29 € per day. The parking lot is open around the clock. Before you would like to drive out of the garage, please let us know and show us your entry ticket.

The address of garage is:

Lindengasse 17-19

1070 Vienna

To get to the hotel from the parking garage take the elevator to the ground floor and use the exit Lindengasse. Then turn left and walk on Kirchengasse until you reach Mariahilfer Straße. After turning right you will find the hotel on your right hand side.

Parking in the street

So called „short-term parking zones” apply throughout Vienna, which means that parking in the streets is only permitted with a parking permit or parking ticket. It would be best to park your car in the Gerngross garage and use Vienna’s excellent public transport network.

If you want to park in the street, you will need to place a parking ticket behind your windscreen. You can get parking tickets at tobacco shops, gas stations, post offices and at the ticket machines in the subway stations. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes, 1 hour costs 2,50 €.

Public transport

You will find Hotel Schani Salon in the middle of the pedestrian zone Mariahilfer Straße. The subway stop Neubaugasse of the line U3 is located right next to the hotel, use the exit “Innere Mariahilfer Straße”.

The subway line U3 is perfect to discover the city center, as it will take you to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the center in just 5 minutes. The best way to plan your route through the city is with Google Maps, where the data of Vienna’s public transport are integrated.

A single ticket costs 2,40 €, the nearest ticket machine is at the Neubaugasse subway station. A day ticket is worthwhile for three or more journeys. You can find an overview of all ticket options here. By the way, using public transport without a ticket will not pay off. Getting caught without a valid ticket will cost you a fine of 105 €. Our recommendation: download the Wiener Linien App for Android or iOS devices to buy tickets easily and quickly on your smartphone.

Vienna public transport operates almost 20 hours per day. Subways run between 5:00 am and midnight. At weekends and on the nights before holidays, subways run around the clock.
